Sustainable Steps Egin Grant increases from £15,000 to £35,000 to support more community climate action across Wales

We are delighted to share that the Sustainable Steps Egin Grant has increased from £15,000 to £35,000.

Thanks to additional investment from The National Lottery Community Fund, community organisations that have completed the Egin mentoring programme but have not yet received a Sustainable Steps Egin Grant can now apply for up to £35,000 to help turn their climate action plans into reality.

Having listened to the communities about rising project costs and the ambition many groups have to create lasting environmental change, the National Lottery announced the increase today (22/07/2026). Through Egin, organisations receive tailored mentoring, support and the space to develop the knowledge and confidence needed to take meaningful climate action — with the grant helping them put those plans into practice.

Supporting communities to take climate action

The Sustainable Steps Egin Grant is open to community organisations across Wales that have completed the Egin mentoring programme.

Funding can support projects that help communities to:

• Take practical steps towards tackling climate change and living more sustainably
• Reduce the environmental impact of their activities
• Improve wellbeing and strengthen community connections
• Support biodiversity and nature
• Share learning and inspire others to take action

We’re particularly interested in supporting organisations that are open to learning, collaboration and sharing their experiences with others.

Decision timeframe: Approximately 4 weeks

Groups that have already received a Sustainable Steps Egin Grant will not be eligible to reapply for the increased amount.
