Celebrating Progress and Looking Ahead
Since launching in February 2023, Egin has been working alongside grassroots organisations who are often furthest from the climate agenda — yet among those most disproportionately impacted by climate change. Our newly published infographic captures not only the measurable outcomes achieved so far, but the depth and breadth of engagement and transformation happening within communities across Wales.
Turning First Steps into Meaningful Action
For many of the groups we support, climate action can feel overwhelming — complex, technical, and beyond reach. Egin exists to change that narrative.
Through a tailored, peer-to-peer mentoring model, our practitioners work side by side with community groups to break down barriers, build confidence and develop practical, achievable climate actions rooted in local priorities. This approach ensures that action is co-created — shaped by lived experience and the realities of each community’s situation.
This approach is having a meaningful impact within the communities we support. Groups with little or no prior experience of climate work are now developing action plans, embedding sustainability thinking into their organisations, and taking tangible steps towards shaping a greener future for themselves.
Building Momentum
Egin will continue running until June 2029, supported by approximately £2 million in funding through the Sustainable Steps Wales programme. This investment enables us to deepen and extend our reach — supporting more communities to take meaningful, measurable climate action in ways that genuinely work for them.
As the programme matures, we are increasingly able to demonstrate not just engagement, but impact. This is an important moment for Egin as we move from early-stage development into a phase where learning, evidence and measurable outcomes position the programme as a leading model of inclusive community climate engagement across Wales.

Growing Opportunities and Looking to the Future
As Egin continues to demonstrate tangible impact, we welcome the opportunity to share its learning and approach to amplify its success more widely across Wales.
If our work resonates with you — whether as a funder, policymaker or third sector organisation — there is real potential to explore how we might work alongside one another to strengthen and extend this impact.
We see significant potential to deepen strategic partnerships, strengthen collaboration across Wales’s third sector, inspire new place-based initiatives and connect climate action more clearly with wider agendas around resilience, wellbeing and social justice within our communities. Exciting possibilities lay ahead, and our wider network plays a large role in shaping the next phase of Egin’s journey.
We are incredibly proud of the progress made so far, but this is only the beginning. With the continued support of our networks and partners, we are confident that Egin will continue to grow in scale, influence and impact.
