I’m Christofer (Hamza) Puddy, originally from Newport but now living in Swansea. I went to Swansea university some 30 years ago and instantly fell in love with the city. I have a passion for nature and the environment, and living here I have so many opportunities to get out and experience different habitats, whether the upland moorland, coastal cliffs, sandy beaches, heathland, woodland, wetlands, river valleys or estuaries. Living in such a beautiful area has increased my love and concern for our environment.
My previous career was as an analyst but through lockdown I decided I wanted a career where I can help others and also the environment. I took voluntary redundancy and started volunteering at EYST, a charity based in Wales with offices here in Swansea. Working there led me to this amazing opportunity, working towards helping others in helping our environment. I feel blessed to have this opportunity and look forward to contributing in helping the local community in protecting our precious environment and combating climate change.
I also work as an Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity officer in the young offenders unit at Parc prison which is a very challenging but also a very rewarding role. In my spare time I enjoy taking my beautiful Huskamute dog out for long walks, relaxing with my two Bengal kittens, spending time with family and occasionally going to the gym.
